Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods--and imprisoned just as quickly--Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
It’s rare that my wife anticipates a films release more than I do—especially when it’s a comic book movie.  But The Rock has come in and upset that hierarchy in our household.
Brief spoiler-free thoughts. Loved the JSA. Can see them green-lighting and fast-tracking a standalone JSA film and I would be all for it. Pierce Brosnan is fantastic as Dr. Fate. Honestly just love the sound of his voice, but in addition his character, powerset and overall performance almost steals the film. The Rock delivers as Black Adam. He’s charismatic as always, but actually pulls off the darker tone better than I had expected. The main villain is pretty lame and the final act suffers as a result, but I was surprised at how much I got invested in some of these characters and I’m fairly eager to see where this franchise could go next, which I wasn’t really expecting to say about this.
