It's interesting revisiting this after 11 years. John Wick the man isn't quite the superhero he is in the sequels, although one might argue it's the rust of being retired for 4 years. This movie arguably spawned its own genre of action flicks. The original may take itself a bit too seriously at times, it does a wonderful job of pulling you into its world and charms you with the intimacy of how well everyone knows John and his exploits. It's crazy that he did this at 50 and crazier that he's still doing it at 60.
