Decided to binge it after seeing people whine about it getting a Fortnite collab, calling it an "industry plant"
Kaiju No. 8 balances its action and seriousness greatly with its comedy bits. Alongside with really hype soundtrack selections for its battles, it kept me engaged throughout the entire season.
I found myself appreciating the setting a bit more; these settings would usually place a bunch of teenagers at the center of all the action, but this time around, we have adults with years of experience, regrets and memories. It adds more depth to the characters, their relationships and interactions overall.
Animation itself is really well done for a show with this much action and fighting, though I have to say No. 8's human sized design isn't the coolest, his iconic pose in the intro & vol1 of the manga made him look cooler than he actually is, maybe it's a case of the design not translating very well into the animation, I'll pick up the manga to see where it goes for sure.
Would recommend!
