Due to its three lead actors' charm and charisma, " Semi-Tough " succeeded at the box office. The movie relies on their witty conversations, with little depth in the plot. The shock value crucial to the story doesn’t work today. While I enjoyed this film when it came out, it's best appreciated within the 1977 context that created it.
