A strong return for a classic franchise, "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" delivers a satisfying dose of nostalgia and epic space opera action. The animation is a clear upgrade, bringing a fresh, modern feel to the iconic ship and its battles. The scale of the conflict feels truly immense, and the new threats are both visually impressive and genuinely menacing.
While the story occasionally struggles to find its footing with some of the new characters, the emotional core of the film remains with Captain Okita and the returning crew. The film is at its best when it leans into the legacy of the Yamato, celebrating what made the original series so beloved. It's a must-watch for long-time fans and a solid entry point for newcomers who appreciate grand-scale science fiction. The ending, in particular, leaves you hungry for more.
