"A Life in the Balance" has good acting and is visually appealing. The idea that a loving father would plan to meet his ten-year-old boy at a bar at 10:00 PM and then not be concerned when the boy doesn't show up is too much to swallow. The father is so cavalier in his attitude that it becomes hard to see him as caring.
