I think my expectations may have been a little too inflated for this. I’ve had several people recommend it. It’s touted as one of the best of the New French Extremity movement in film, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by it. Admittedly, I think that is mostly due to that last twist. On my initial watch, it didn’t seem like it made logical sense and the film would have been better off without it. Up until that point, though, this was a really taut (and tense) thriller with some excellent looking practical gore. Glad to finally cross this off the watchlist though.
