Event Horizon is one of those rare sci-fi horror films that doesn’t just unsettle, it infects.
From the moment the crew boards the derelict ship, you feel the dread creeping in.
The gothic production design, eerie soundscape, and flashes of hellish imagery make it feel like Hellraiser and in space and I mean that as a compliment.
It was also maybe the inspiration for Dead Space game.
But here’s the real tragedy: there’s no Director’s Cut. Paul W.S. Anderson originally shot a much longer, more disturbing version, but the studio forced massive cuts.
Lost footage, including extended hallucinations and backstory, was either destroyed or never properly archived
