Nearly the entire theater was in tears, or trying to hold it together.
…and then the film’s ending hits and even more people lose it.
…and then the dedication hits the screen. (More tears)
….and then director Tracie Laymon came out for a Q&A. (…so many more tears)
It was an amazing experience, sitting in a packed theater all 200 or so, sniffling and blubbering together.
When Lily (Barbie Ferreira) has a falling out with her father, Bob Trevino (French Stewart), he cold shoulders her and cuts off communication. She tries to reach out to him on Facebook and inadvertently befriends another man also named Bob Trevino (John Leguizamo) and perhaps finds the father she never had. Everyone just wants to be liked. Sometimes kindness and connections can break the patterns of inherited trauma and generational brokenness. A deeply personal debut feature film from director Tracie Laymon, one to absolutely keep an eye out for.
