CSI spin off which follows an elite group of Crime Scene Investigators (CSI's) from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), who use advanced forensic science and methods to solve complex crimes in cross-cultural Miami, Florida.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (out of 5) CSI: Miami – Sunglasses, science, and sunsets with a splash of over-saturation. “CSI: Miami” is the most gloriously stylised of the CSI franchise — a sun-drenched, neon-bright procedural that swaps grimy labs for glossy beaches and turns forensic science into performance art. Led by Horatio Caine (David Caruso, master of the dramatic pause and one-liner), it’s equal parts crime-solving and spectacle. At its core, it’s a classic procedural: evidence, lab work, and cutting-edge tech leading to a weekly resolution. But unlike Criminal Minds, which dives deep into psychology, CSI: Miami leans heavily on the toys — microscopes, DNA scans, ballistic reconstructions — making it the flashiest science show on television. Despite its often upbeat tone, it sprinkles in just enough tragedy to remind you there’s still a heart beneath the orange glow. Speaking of orange — once you notice the colour grading, you can’t unsee it. Every frame looks like it’s been dipped in Florida sunlight and left to caramelise. It’s bright, brash, and borderline radioactive — a stylistic choice so distinct it becomes part of the show’s identity (and your retinas’ long-term memory). Running for ten seasons, CSI: Miami delivered plenty of high-tech thrills, even if the final episode wrapped things up with that unmistakably American need for neat endings. Still, for its mix of energy, excess, and easy watchability, it remains one of the most entertaining entries in the forensic TV universe — loud, proud, and just a little too orange.
