That funemployed life, broh. Jerry makes a friend just as jobless as he is.

I was disappointed with last week’s episode. This episode had to fight harder to get me on board. Being an episode revolving around Jerry, I was excited. I like Jerry-centric episodes. The story revolved around an imposter Jerry eating cereal with a five o’clock shadow who teaches C-137 Jerry how to traverse universes through his closet. They pal around the multiverse together and have an adventure.
The episode wasn’t that funny. There were moments and the post-credits bit had me laughing out loud, but the episode was more about the inner-psyche of Jerry, the loser who never has anything go right. It touches on how he sees himself and his feelings on how he believes the family see him…or doesn’t see him, rather. The episode was really much more introspective overall. Often times I like this show the best when it deals with subject matter like this but doesn’t get heavy handed about it. We all know what the cannibal spaghetti thing was how the morally grey area was almost beaten to death there. Same with the Pissmaster episode. This one is much more subtle when dealing with the different Jerry’s and how, even with different personalities, each one still seemed to have the same problem of a negative personal outlook. We also see the return of Beth’s second husband that she meets in some dimensions that was introduced when Jerry went to the Jerryboree.
Overall, this was a solid episode, not great, but a vast improvement over last week. Let’s hope the last two episodes keep the momentum of improvement and give us a solid finale to make us excited for season 9.
