Cannibal Ferox

Cannibal Ferox
Anthropologists take a trip to the jungles of Colombia to study native cannibals. Instead, they find a band of drug dealers, using the natives to harvest coca leaves. After awhile, the natives are tired of being tortured slaves, and turn on their masters, as well as the anthropologists, thus filling the screen with gruesome splatter!

The cannibal subgenre that came on like an onslaught in the golden era of horror really pushed the limits of censorship. There’s a reason why they can’t be made today I mean name another tribal cannibal horror other than The Green Inferno that was on par and produced in the 21st century. Cannibal Holocaust will forever be reigning champion and if you can stomach such a masterpiece, I suggest giving the runner up a try.
Cannibal Ferox is a tad less gruesome (barely) but just as mean in spirit. Similar to it’s competitor the cannibals aren’t the monsters here regardless of the hacking, gouging, impalements, and various human feasting- which is why I believe the brutality is warranted towards the foreign invaders. No matter the nastiness it’s always impressive the lengths low budget filmmaking goes to produce such quality practical effects. If you’re into the wild side of cinema, this is an exploitation essential.
