This is not the movie I thought it was going to be. Not that I knew what to expect, but it wasn’t what I expected. No spoilers, just watch it to the very end. Laugh and then cry, and then cry some more. Maoist Stella is great, just brilliant and traversing a difficult youth landscape, Percy Haynes White is so charming he makes you feel all of the feels. It takes you back to that pivotal summer we had. Those couple of months when you left your old friends, old life, behind. And when you came back, you had evolved somehow into a new, more expansive human. Watch the film. Then go and tell everyone you know that you love their ass…family, friends, and then remember to love yourself back.
