Saw it on TV somewhere at the end of the 80's and it felt like science fiction had slipped off its lab coat and gone undercover. Dr. Daniel Westin, played by David McCallum, develops a formula for matter transformation and tests it on himself, with unintended consequences. Before he can reverse the process, he discovers the government wants to weaponize his invention. So he destroys the formula and becomes permanently invisible. With his wife Kate by his side, he joins the KLAE Corporation and uses his condition to fight crime and corruption. The tone? Classic ’70s sci-fi with a dash of espionage and moral tension. It’s part superhero origin story, part Cold War paranoia and part domestic drama, all wrapped in analog effects and earnest performances. McCallum brings gravitas to the role and Melinda O. Fee adds warmth and wit as Kate. Watching it again a show that was ahead of its time, both literally and thematically. It only lasted one season, but its blend of invisibility, ethics and action made it a memorable entry in the era’s sci-fi lineup.
