The new Superman movie delivers an undeniable heart and an "unabashedly comic booky" spirit, making it a truly refreshing experience. It fundamentally gets Superman right, showcasing a hero who genuinely wants to save people rather than doing so begrudgingly. The deeply moving ending montage featuring his family resonates long after the credits roll, cementing the film's emotional impact. After years of more self serious and brooding interpretations, it's a genuine pleasure to embrace a "goody two shoes full of heart" Superman once more. This film marks a significant and welcome shift from the tone of Man of Steel and previous portrayals. The casting is simply superb. David Corenswet is fantastic, bringing immense warmth and humanity to the iconic role, and his insane chemistry with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane is a true highlight. And then there's Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor; he's wonderfully petty and delivers a performance that's both menacing and subtly humorous. This film isn't just a strong start for a new cinematic era; it's a heartfelt return to form for the Man of Steel himself.
