I grew up on the original DIC dub of Sailor Moon, but I always recommend Sailor Moon Crystal for newcomers because it has VERY little filler. The original anime had entire seasons of filler (remember Alan, Anne, and that damn tree?), but SMC sticks closer to the manga and just gets to the point. The animation is a lil wonky in the first season, but it’s easy to overlook because it’s still gorgeous. Because it’s true to the manga, there are some big story differences from the DIC dub that can be a lil surprising - just remember that this was how the story was always meant to be.
