An old gunslinger and his daughter must face the consequences of his past, when the son of a man he murdered years ago arrives to take his revenge.
The Old Way is a western revenge tale that while it’s mostly cliché, it makes for a fairly entertaining watch.  Nic Cage outshines pretty much here as the infamous Colton Briggs who has hung up holsters and settled down to be a family man. But when a band of outlaws comes across his homestead, he’s forced to pick up those holsters one more time and bring his young daughter along for the ride.
As a classic western revenge tale, like I said before, it works fairly well. The final showdown underwhelms however and kind of brings the whole film down a notch. But I was actually quite enjoying the journey up until that point. There’s a story element that suggests Colton’s daughter (and potentially Colton himself) is on the autism spectrum. It feels rather ham-fisted, though and not really woven into the story with much care.
Cage is always watchable in my opinion and that holds true here. It’s not anything to go out of your way to watch, but if you need a time killer, you could do worse.
