Seymour Krelborn is a nerdy orphan working at Mushnik's; a flower shop in urban Skid Row. He harbors a crush on fellow co-worker, Audrey Fulquard, and is berated by Mr. Mushnik daily. One day, Seymour finds a very mysterious unidentified plant which he calls Audrey II. The plant seems to have a craving for blood and soon begins to sing for his supper.
Honestly my favorite musical film and much better than Grease or any other famous musical. Goes to show how underrated some films are. I'm not a fan of romantic films. and since most musicals are romance related, I don't really get into them. But this one has horror elements, romance elements, comedic elements, and songs that really slap. What more could you want from a film? The acting is all really spot on and the actors are deliver their lines really well. Steve Martin did an outstanding job as Orlin and I laughed at all of the evil dentist's antics. Bill Murray's character was gut bustingly hilarious. Seymour and Audrey had great chemistry, although their final decision to get married felt really rushed. But this film isn't taking things seriously, so it doesn't feel out of place. And of course, I have to praise Audrey II. I am very angry that he(and this film in general) do not get talked about more. He is one of the best movie monsters and movie villains in general in history. The fact that he was done entirely with practical effects is truly amazing and you can't just appreciate the film enough. He looks amazing and very lifelike. The late Levi Stubbs really outdid himself in this role. And the puppeteers outdid themselves as well. As did all the people behind this movie. This is must-watch for all movie lovers. I guarantee you that you will have so much fun and respect your plants afterwards. 5/5 film!
