So the movie attempts to say something meaningful within the context of a dark comedy. The problem is, it is missing something meaningful ,the comedy, and it’s not dark. There’s a lot of Cringe here but the reality is it misses the mark on many levels. It wants to make a statement about the true impact of isolation & loneliness that men can feel. Many men don’t know how to make friendships because it’s hard to be open & vulnerable which is how relationships are built. This movie aims to show how this can go wrong. Except… Craig’s actually the most sane of everyone. Rudd’s character is a douche nozzle & fake on multiple levels. Craig’s family is horrible. And… Craig may actually need medical help -yet- even when everything is falling down- he is actually a true friend while everyone else is fake. Yeah- this message came through but that could have been done in 10min. Rudd is wasted. And a movie with a meaningful message and social commentary could have been made here but this is not it.
