Set in a world with memory recording implants, Alan Hakman is a cutter, someone with the power of final edit over people's recorded histories. His latest assignment is one that puts him in danger.
I found myself deeply attached to this sci-fi/thriller from the very start. With a fascinating premise of developing the technology to implant a chip into a human being’s brain at birth which will operate as the equivalent of an audio/video recorder of every moment of the person’s life, the stage for quite a dramatic debate was set. Should one’s memories be deemed other than their own exclusive property upon their death? Or should others—outsiders—be given leave to delve into every nook and cranny of a departed mind? How do moral factors fit into the “picture?” Naturally the issue becomes one for heated, even rabid debate, thereby setting the stage for the drama that unfolds so very well. And we all miss Robin Williams, a tremendous talent that was taken from us far too soon. His talent absolutely dominates the film, as he grabs us firmly by our heart strings and pulls us into the plot as it plays its way out. This is indeed a good one!
