Fade to Black

Fade to Black
A shy, lonely film buff embarks on a killing spree against those who browbeat and betray him, all the while stalking his idol, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike.

This was pretty fun. I loved the premise and setup, but think the ending (maybe the last 30-40 minutes) could have been better taking things a different direction—and definitely could have used more slashing.
Weirdly, this movie felt like an alternate version of The Mask (Jim Carrey), except where Stanley Ipkiss isn’t a good guy, it doesn’t have a happy ending and it’s not family friendly. We’ve got an eccentric down on his luck leading man, acting out his movie fantasies trying to win over a Hollywood startlet-ish. Even has a cartoonish gangster shootout.
I think this would make for an awesome reboot if they made it today.
