Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Jason Voorhees is accidentally awakened from his watery grave and ends up stalking a ship full of graduating high-school students headed to Manhattan, New York.

Hodder still owns as Jason even if the movie surrounding him can sometimes be underwhelming. Transporting Jason always gives me a laugh and just like every Friday movie there are plenty of entertaining kills. The obvious standout being the Julius fight on the roof (the script had lot's of big set pieces in New York they never got the budget for, this fight was written to take place on the roof of Madison Square Garden, that would've been even crazier). Seeing the P.O.V. of Julius's head as it's falling into the dumpster is an all timer. Always dug the main theme by Metropolis called The Darkest Side of the Night (I like a lot of 80's movie soundtrack songs). I forgive the long boat trip and most of the land stuff being Vancouver instead of N.Y. because Jason doing his thing is the main draw here. My big gripe with Takes Manhattan is the very poor make up work on unmasked Jason and all the kid Jason stuff that should've never made the final cut. All that stuff is rough and holds this one back from a higher rating.
