Set back in 1851 in the Carpathia Mountains of Romania, Elvira the Mistress of the Dark" en route to Paris with her maidservant Zou Zou for a can-can revue, stop for the night at a haunted castle owned by a certain Vladimir Hellsubus whose long dead wife bears an eerie resemblance to Elvira.
Set in 1851 Romania, Elvira and her maid Zou Zou are en route to Paris for a can-can revue when they end up at a haunted castle owned by the eccentric Lord Vladimere Hellsubus. The castle holds dark secrets, supernatural occurrences, and a suspicious resemblance between Elvira and the lord’s deceased wife. Cue melodrama, murder, and a whole lot of innuendo. 🧟‍♀️ Style & Homage A loving spoof of Roger Corman/Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe gothic horror films. Features elaborate sets, dramatic lighting, and over-the-top performances. Includes a song-and-dance number, slapstick gags, and classic horror tropes turned on their head. ⚖️ Final Verdict Elvira’s Haunted Hills is a cheeky, gothic spoof that leans hard into camp and melodrama. While not as sharp or iconic as Mistress of the Dark, it’s a loving tribute to classic horror and a showcase for Cassandra Peterson’s timeless charisma. Fans of Elvira and vintage horror will find plenty to enjoy.
