"The killer died in this hospital....and [he] was plugged into your computer!"
This is like a kissing cousin to The Lawnmower Man.
This movie came out when I was 13 years old; the same age as the dope-ass, smart-talkin' white boy protagonist, Josh.
It has some pretty impressive early CGI (yeah yeah,🦖🏞️) paired with ambitious camera moves (yeah yeah,🦖🏞️) those alone make this worth a look. And, this bitch knows how to build tension, even if has a healthy dose of goofy.
Ultimately, this film is a snapshot into the early 90s, and how everyone thought life was going to play out with technology and the "datanet"...take that, add in an serial killer, some technological voodoo (à la Wes Craven's Shocker), and voila! I knew I remembered this film for some reason, and not just because of the microwave kill, which is amazing.
Ebert calls it: "Gen X anti-appliance propaganda!"
JK I made that up
PS: I still have a crush on Karen Allen ❤️❤️💘
