Sci-fi films from the golden era of technicolor are just incredible to look at- even if the film itself isn't anything special. All of the practical props and costumes are exciting. Invaders From Mars checks all the boxes that one would look for from a sci-fi piece from this period.
Attempting to tap into that childhood paranoia, Invaders From Mars captures the helpless terror of realizing something is wrong. Even if things appear normal on the outside. Much of the film is build up holding all the excitement for the final act, nothing uncommon to how these pictures usually go. Production was rushed in competition to War of the Worlds set to be the first feature film to show aliens and their spacecraft in color.
