I get why it has a difficult reputation but it is a beautifully raw and honest television project; maybe too raw at times for its creators even (and me).
I felt there were real moments of poignancy though that I could write a thousand words on. As a starter and most immediately, I don't see the Made in England banner at the end as insignificant. Are The Beatles taking England into the future or were they themselves being sucked into a tour of its past while, as a TV broadcast also using the medium to claim the disposable England of the present.
If I would have ever have met Paul McCartney I now know what I would have said - "I quite liked Magical Mystery Tour actually"
