Maybe this is a tall order but the one thing I wanted from this movie was to feel the same exhilarating excitement I had as an investor in GME back in January of 2021, and it failed to provide that. I enjoyed the telling of DFV’s story and family background. Paul Dano is great as usual. The side stories of the regular investor folks was so bland, it did not grip me at all. The success stories people were sharing on Reddit at the time were way more heartwarming. And the way it portrayed the downfall of the hedge fund managers was pretty lame too, it ended too quick with a basic info dump. The revolutionary feeling and rallying cries that took place in r/WallStreetBets was not adequately explored here. If you’re gonna make a movie about an event that happened not too long ago, make it more fun, interesting and emotional. Make the audience feel the stakes and the roller coaster ride of being an investor in a highly volatile stock. Make the downfall of these rich pricks more gratifying. I doubt this movie is gonna be interesting to anyone who wasn’t familiar with this event before.
