The Pride of the Yankees

I have to say first off that Gary Cooper, who was forty during the filming of this movie, was simply too old to play a younger Lou Gehrig during his high school and college days. They should have used a different actor for those scenes.
With that out of the way, it's a good biopic and Cooper gives a fine understated performance. The climatic scene as Gehrig bids farewell at Yankee Stadium is iconic.
As a side note, seeing Babe Ruth come to life playing himself is a special treat.
