INTRO:
So, I watched this awhile ago, but I was pretty wasted and it was like 2am, so literally remember nothing about it except that the villain design was cool maybe 🤷♂️
That being said, let's see what my thoughts are now, while only being half-wasted this time!
Below are my semi-sober rewatch notes, in runtime order (sans timestamps, since I don't think this movie, nor my amateur sardonic commentary, warrant it.)
LETS GO:
"It's freezing!" *Leaves hand there until it ices over*
Basically the same as sticking your hand into lava and saying "it's burny!"
lol okay, that Photon joke was....brilliant 😉
"It's the Hell's Kitchen Sewer Dragon." Which is what Jessica Jones' exes call her 🤣 💜
I wish Calgary's traffic was as light and uncongested as downton Manhattan's is! Screw the ghost, look at all that parking!
That drone ghost trap is kind if cool idea and nice modernization.
The Statue of Liberty thing...not sure that people would just shrug something like that off or hyper-normalize it... like it was some sort minor nuisance. That's the same day the Titanic came back
Good chemistry between Coon, Rudd and Grace. Sorry but Finn Wolfsoft is more annoying than Podcast in this and has nothing to do. Yeah, just put your finger into that dripping green goo hole on the ceiling, durrrp...I guess we're lucky it wasn't on the floor, or he who knows what an adolescent boy would have stuck in it.
What a real hug! 🙄
Yeesh, welcome to the nonsense exposition lab.
"...equivalent of 50 million cubic hectares..." Lol that's such a nonsense, obfuscated measurement, a hectare is a unit of area not volume smfh. Just because you say cubic doesn't make it okay. This bothered me more than it should have 😂
Paul Rudd is so charming I keep thinking he's Canadian.
Underage lesbian ghost romances are such a trope.
Why is ghost chick walking down a street? She can fly ffs
Steven Seagal looking slim in the attic scene! *Shout out to SpaceIce 😂🤣
Hahaha "The Singing Cheeses of Copenhagen"
Should have named the bad guy something more memorable than Garraka. The exposition dump for the baddie's background is kind of neat, stylistically but it's allllll at once. I think visually he's cool but other than that he's boring and under-developed. The scene when he gets freed is great, not sure if he killed Lucky but I doubt it since the human body can just freeze completely and totally be okay later, fyi 🤣😂.
And when he gets his horns back looked pretty great.
Bill Murray thinks he spies something suspicious in a poorly-lit room and goes against every single coolness guidleline and takes OFF his sunglasses! 😎
Kumail Numjiani just nonchalantly talking to and joking with a flying, 12' tall, horned ice demon with glowing eyes instead of fear-shitting himself. 🙄
First rule of spycraft, always carry a lighter or matches.
I think this franchise would be interesting if you leaned the other direction and more into horror or thriller than PG-13 family comedy....like army of darkness maybe, hell yeah give Sam Raimi's Ghostbusters?! 😍 Dare I dream?
Side note: okay 20 minutes left, it's been 4 hours cause of the stop and go 🥵
Thank gosh the enemy's ice breath attack is so fucking slow and non-lethal 🙄
Wish I could tell what the bad guy was saying, "chanting" is boring and it actually seems important, like what is he saying? I know, ghosts 🙄 whatever
It looks like the city is frozen already but then there are people getting coffee instead of mass hysteria 😂🤣
Everyone thaws immediately, there's no tissue damage and everyone is freshly shaved, just like in real life.
Overall...Meh it's okay, I can see why there is a critic vs. audience difference on RT, it's not good but it's not bad and it's kinda fun 🤷♂️ not sure why the marshmallows boops are in it at all other than marketing I guess lol
I almost said before but his MIGHT have been better as a 6-part series just to expand on the half-storylines, and more essentially, the villain, Dormammu Goro, or whateverthefuckhisnamewas.
End of line.
(note: I had to bowdlerize my review like 18 times because shitty plex doesn't tell you what word they've blacklisted, you gotta figure that shit out on your own because they are stupid fucks.
