Porridge (2016)
Nigel Fletcher is a sharp-witted chancer with no respect for authority. Just like his grandad Norman. Now, nearly 40 years after Norman served time, Nigel is following in his grandad's footsteps. By heading straight into a prison cell.

this series and I was sceptical, being a fan of the original 1970's Ronnie Barker original. However, I really enjoyed this series. The cast are exceptionally good, Kevin Bishop is really outstanding and the writing team are Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais also do a great job bringing Porridge into the present. Whilst retaining the charm and wit of the original, with bitter sweet moments, the episodes are relevant to today without being too gritty. This is comedy and light entertainment in an unusual setting, it works just like the original without trying to be like "Starred Up". Its a Cat C prison and the new Fletch, grandson of the old Fletch, is doing his stir for cyber-crimes and fraud. Look out for the new Mr McKay!
