Recognized as a renowned actor in the Scream franchise but how many of you knew David Arquette had a single stint as a director? Just a casual little slasher film where the killer dons a Ronald Reagan getup and slashes down hippies at a music festival in the woods, totally normal. How this one is so under the radar blows my mind. It’s as simple as a Friday the 13th entry in an exaggerated disapproval of hippies from Ronald Reagan’s views.
The Tripper seems to be nothing more than a fun project with zero intentions of changing the game. A horror film of this level actually has a stacked cast, some names unexpected- David Arquette in his own movie alongside fellow Scream star Courteney Cox, Thomas Jane, Jason Mewes, Jaime King all recognizable names today. If this is the type of absurdity in Arquette’s mind, we need more.
