Pulpy revenge-fueled chaos from the 90's, I absolutely loved Ricochet. Early performance of Denzel Washington paired with an UNHINGED John Lithgow, and to top it off the badass Ice-T.
Russell Mulcahy leans heavily into the stylized flair of the early 90's, complete with a recreation of his Highlander finale. This time staged in a prison with body armor assembled out of duct tape and books. While the film has moments of genuine tension, the over the top nature veers into absurd territory making this a real treat. One minute Lithgow is threatening an axe to little sleeping girls and the next he's giving Washington the clap. He's got a few fantastic one liners too I won't be forgetting anytime soon.
The action sequences are inventive and relentless, with a few bordering on the ridiculous (in the best way possible). Ricochet thrives on its unabashed intensity.
