SPACEBALLS: The Movie Review — A movie miracle. Not that the Mel Brooks gag-a-minute routine is perfect, but he manages to make a movie where Bill Pullman doesn’t lose the girl (Sleepless In Seattle, Malice, etc.), and Rick Moranis absolutely owns as the powerful and inept Dark Helmet. The high school play budget afforded to supporting characters like Dot Matrix and Barf play incredibly well. Some jokes are so dumb they’re brilliant. Watching this with a 13 year old definitely plays up the schwartz. I'd give it 1-2-3-4-5 stars, but that's the kind of thing an idiot would give because it's just not quite up there with Blazing Saddles.
