Starve Acre

Starve Acre
An idyllic rural family life of a couple is thrown into turmoil when their son starts acting out of character.

I’ll continue to watch any Morfydd Clark pictures, but this folk horror was a bore. Moody and looked nice, but never engaged with the story. It follows the lives of Richard and Juliette, who live in the isolated family home called Starve Acre. The couple is struggling with the recent death of their young son, Owen, under mysterious circumstances. The couple becomes intrigued by the lands dark history and a supposed malevolent spirit named Jack Grey, and Juliette becomes entangled in the occult with the hopes of contacting Owen’s spirit. It’s a sort of tropey atmospheric folk horror exploration of grief and isolation.
