One of thrillers' essential classics for good reason. The performances from Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum are stellar. Mitchum channels his Reverend Harry Powell charcter again from Night of the Hunter. That sort of calm and calculated mad man whom is difficult to read. The man is legendary, really elevating the film to its status.
Beautiful lighting/shadow play notably in the climax and throughout is carried by such a great score, always loved that theme song. Cape Fear is a classic but the remake just had a little more suspense to me.
