Fallen Leaves

Fallen Leaves
In modern-day Helsinki, two lonely souls in search of love meet by chance in a karaoke bar. However, their path to happiness is beset by obstacles - from lost phone numbers to mistaken addresses, alcoholism, and a charming stray dog.

Simple but effective. Basic but earnest in a way that makes it a pro rather a con. It's also fantastically shot with a Kieslowski focus on a palette of dark rich blues and reds. Every still has the warmth and lushness of an oil painting. The plot is kind of like if Dancer in the Dark was more optimistic..I guess you could call it two Dancers in the light. It's an enclosed look on the resilience of love in defiance of the sad, ugly and depressive industrial backdrop in which they find themselves.
