Exhibiting Forgiveness

Exhibiting Forgiveness
A Black artist on the path to success is derailed by an unexpected visit from his estranged father, a recovering addict desperate to reconcile. Together, they struggle and learn that forgetting might be a greater challenge than forgiving.

A beautifully shot, extremely well acted melodrama that at times reflects on the black experience with such poignance and harsh boldness and at other times feels not too far removed from the types of films that American Fiction was parodying. It's altogether more emotionally effective than Tyler Perry drivel but ultimately succumbs to the same sort of opiated antiquated outlooks.
