Best friends Ruth and Megan run a vintage shop in Muswell Hill. Stumbling across a time machine, they embark on trips to the past to stock their shop with no idea of the irreparable damage they're causing to the fabric of the universe.

Time Travel is Dangerous is a charmingly low-budget, delightfully absurd British sci-fi about two close friends who stumble upon a busted bumper car time machine and use it—not to save the world—but to steal vintage goods from the past for their struggling retro shop. Perfectly small-stakes.
Highlights include the fake ’80s sci-fi show The Future Today, featuring Ralph and Botty—Botty being a “robot” whose TV head displays a live feed of Robert performing from a studio down the hall. Also loved the idea of The Unreason, a hell-dimension where the trapped pass time inventing convoluted board games and endlessly arguing over the rules. A hilariously specific dig at board game obsessives, and totally exemplary of the kind of humor this has throughout.
It’s dry, weird, and deeply committed to its niche. Not for everyone. Definitely for me, though.
