Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
The five highly trained Bennett sisters in Georgian England must try to protect themselves from the growing zombie threat, find suitable husbands for themselves, battle marriage proposals and unlikely suitors, and save the country before it's too late.

I think one of the reasons this has polarizing reviews is the fact that, in order to truly enjoy it, you have to be a major fan of Pride & Prejudice AND Zombies - like myself. I think this movie only appeals to those in that little sliver in the middle of that Venn diagram. It is EXACTLY P&P with the same plot, characters, relationships, conversations, etc., just WITH zombies. They did not change one thing about the plot here, except for the one big one, so if you don't like Jane Austin and eating brains, you won't like this movie. I think, it's a really fun way to put new life into an old classic. I think many people might've been swayed to read the original after seeing this. My only gripe; however, is the old and kind of racist "Eastern-mystic" angle - the use of Asia as a mystic wealth of knowledge for the benefit of white people without actually exploring their culture - the obviously dubbed Japanese and Mandarin was particularly cringe-worthy and wholly unnecessary.
