The depiction of rape in Waterhole #3, set to Roger Miller’s lighthearted song, is undeniably one of the film's most troubling aspects. What may have been seen as irreverent or edgy humor in 1967 now feels deeply disturbing. By treating such a violent act as a joke, the film trivializes the seriousness of the issue, creating a glaring flaw that overshadows its other qualities. This film gives you a view of the attitudes toward women in the late 60s, and it is not pretty.
