DreamWorks delivers a visually stunning animated film with a unique, hand-painted style. The story follows a survival robot stranded on a wild island, forced to adapt and eventually become the caretaker of an orphaned gosling. It’s a beautifully animated modern fable with heart, but it suffers from being too sentimental and ideologically naive for adults. While the animation is gorgeous, generic pop songs and an overly sweet message slightly undermine the film. It's great for kids, but overly sentimental for a cold, adult heart.
