The Dukes of Hazzard

Cousins Bo and Luke Duke and their car "General Lee," assisted by Cousin Daisy and Uncle Jesse, have a running battle with the authorities of Hazzard County (Boss Hogg and Sheriff Coltrane), plus a string of ne'er-do-wells often backed by the scheming Hogg.
Saw this one on Dutch TV in the early '80.
It was Southern charm, car chases and rebel heart, all wrapped in a cloud of dust and banjo riffs.
Bo and Luke Duke, cousins with good intentions and bad luck, drove the General Lee like it was a third character.
Orange paint, Confederate flag and a horn that played Dixie.
Problematic now, iconic then.
Boss Hogg schemed, Rosco P. Coltrane bumbled and Uncle Jesse kept the boys grounded.
But let’s be honest, Daisy Duke stole every scene.
Those shorts weren’t just fashion, they were cultural shockwaves.
The show was formulaic, sure: jump the car, dodge the law, save the day.
But it had heart, humor and a rhythm that made it endlessly watchable.
And the stunts? Pure spectacle.
The General Lee flew over barns, rivers and police cruisers, sometimes landing perfectly, sometimes not.
You could spot the car’s front end crumpling mid jump, or catch a stuntman’s helmet peeking out from under a wig.
It was gloriously imperfect and that made it even better.
I loved this one. Saw it on TV, rewatched it on DVD and still grin when I hear that theme song.
