the split diopter shots in this film go fucking crazy man i totally get it now. this is just a conventional spy thriller as far as narrative beats and characterizations go, but everything is elevated by the craftsmanship on display; from de palma’s direction to burum’s cinematography to cruise’s performance to the production design, everything is of such a high caliber that it elevates the story.
