An Iranian Vampire Western, shot in black&white and with a killer soundtrack... it's a love story about two tortured souls in a desolate Iranian Ghost-town called 'Bad City', where a lonely vampire is stalking the towns most depraved denizens.

between this film and alfredson’s let the right one in, tender moments are quickly becoming my favorite interactions in vampire cinema. the entire scene set to “death” by white lies is so intimate, so full of unspoken trust and surrender. i had the same saccharine swelling of emotion in my chest as i did when watching the bedroom scene from let the right one in for the first time. implicit affection and love abound in these moments, in the closing of space between two lonely people and the acceptance of each others’ presence. to be near to someone is to be seen; to be caressed, to be held - by touch or by gaze - is to be loved. the music and soundscapes here are astounding as well, and it’s shot so beautifully. there’s so much in this film to be dazzled by, but i’m so infatuated with that one scene that everything else takes on this hazy splendor.
