Saw this for Mother's Day with my brother and mom. She'd seen it MANY times before. He'd seen it once before. I'd never seen it. My mom asked me after, "So, did you like it?" and my response was and is, "You'd have to be a pretty joyless asshole not to enjoy it!"
It's clear everyone is having a good time, and nobody is taking themselves too seriously and in a musical that's usually going to result in success. The mystery is played well, the opposition of Sophie and Donna in regards to the presence of the men is played effectively for drama and laughs, and the conclusion of it all is a nice pay off.
ABBA really has some phenomenal music and lyrics that tie in really well to the script.
All in all this was a great way to spend a Mother's Day!
