That's My Boy
While in his teens, Donny fathered a son, Todd, and raised him as a single parent until Todd's 18th birthday. Now Donny resurfaces just before Todd's wedding after years apart, sending the groom-to-be's world crashing down.

I just watched That’s My Boy and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This is one of those movies that is so over the top and wild that you cannot help but laugh all the way through. If you like Adam Sandler’s more unfiltered comedy style, this one totally delivers. It is loud, dumb, ridiculous, and honestly kind of sweet in the weirdest way possible.
Adam Sandler plays Donny Berger, a washed up former child celebrity who became famous for all the wrong reasons. Now he is broke, still living like he is stuck in the past, and trying to figure out what to do with his life. When he finds out his estranged son is getting married, Donny crashes back into his world, hoping to fix things and maybe make a little money along the way.
Andy Samberg plays the grown up son, Todd, who is trying to keep his life together and has been trying to distance himself from his wild childhood. The dynamic between the two of them is where all the comedy and heart comes from. Sandler and Samberg have great chemistry and totally play off each other in hilarious ways. One is loud, wild, and inappropriate, and the other is anxious, uptight, and trying to be normal.
The humor in this movie is completely off the rails. There are jokes that go way over the line, crazy situations that keep getting worse, and nonstop moments that will either make you laugh out loud or shake your head in disbelief. But that is exactly what makes it work. It knows it is offensive and dumb and just leans into it.
Sandler goes all in on the voice and personality of Donny, and it somehow never gets old. He is immature, clueless, and always saying the worst possible thing, but you still end up kind of rooting for him. He is a total mess, but you can tell deep down he actually cares, even if he has no idea how to show it.
The supporting cast is also hilarious. There are tons of funny side characters, awkward relatives, and surprise appearances that add to the chaos. Every scene has something unexpected and the wedding weekend setting gives the movie a good reason to keep ramping up the insanity.
The reason I give it 5 out of 5 stars is not because it is a perfect movie but because of how much fun it is. It does not try to be deep or smart, it just wants to make you laugh and take everything to the most extreme level. Sometimes that is exactly the kind of movie you need.
Even though the humor is wild, there is still a bit of heart in there. The movie is really about a father and son trying to reconnect in the most dysfunctional way possible. It is about letting go of the past, being honest about who you are, and figuring out how to fix things even when it seems impossible.
Overall That’s My Boy is one of Adam Sandler’s most insane comedies and one of the funniest movies if you are into outrageous humor. It is not for everyone, but if you get Sandler’s style, you are in for a good time. I laughed a ton and had a blast watching it. Definitely one of my favorites from his more out there movies.
