Great cinematics and acting wasted on tack and poor depiction of a great era of British history, even as a completely fictional tv series. Would have been far more redeeming having the main character become some sort of justifiably vengeful murder instead of a prolonged sufferable character that does silly things that don't do much for her character just as a means to add more minutes of tv time. Plus the ending was weak and unlikely, with it actually being of no real favour to the 'wife' character. As for the rest of the characters, could have easily carried the 'taboo' element with the actual use of innocence (such as the priest getting with the widow character).
There definitely needed to be a womanly group burial scene of a dead douchebag husband in the backyard.
