Set during the Cold War, the Soviets—led by sword-wielding Irina Spalko—are in search of a crystal skull which has supernatural powers related to a mystical Lost City of Gold. Indy is coerced to head to Peru at the behest of a young man whose friend—and Indy's colleague—Professor Oxley has been captured for his knowledge of the skull's whereabouts.

A fairly honest and enjoyable update to Indiana Jones.
It's true that the special effects and lens flare could well have been turned down from 11 at times but all in all it was an exciting romp with good set pieces.
Generally people tell you the original trilogy is great when it really mostly isn't. The same is the case when people say this is bad when it's actually kinda okay.
