I 2009 blev MV Maersk Alabama, som det første amerikanske fragtskib i over 200 år, kapret af somaliske pirater. Det var den amerikanske skibskaptajn Richard Phillips, som førte skibet, og trods det at han og besætningen udsatte sig for stor fare, valgte de at kæmpe imod piraternes overtagelse af skibet

Thought the was movie was going to be a black and while hero's tale, it was not. The director did a great job of presenting a movie with lots of gray areas. The pirates were human, not mindless monsters looking for a payday. Tom Hanks displayed his acting skills playing Captain Phillips. Didn't think I would enjoy this movie based on the subject mater. It proved me wrong!
