This is a saccharin, moral-heavy, story of personal growth starring Snooze Lightyear and a motley crew of forgetful fuckups.
Taika Waititi's character is so overly-buffoonish and unlikeable that not even his talented voice work can save the cringe.
Buzz is equally unlikeable but at least he's not a straight-up moron.
I don't even remember the names of the other two in the group so that should say a lot since I watched this <24 hours ago.
Sox is the only breath of relief... and I can't tell if that's because it's a well-written and enjoyable character, or if it's just because the others are so far down the give-a-fuck scale that it's an illusion of likeability.
I really tried to like this (or at least give it a chance) but it's basically if Pixar made a G-rated Looper 2: Electric Boogaloo.
I honestly don't know who this is for.
Hopefully this tanks hard enough that Disney doesn't consider coming out with a standalone Sheriff Woody movie next (obviously called: Pride.) But if they did, I wouldn't be surprised...nor would I watch.
If this movie had actually existed irl in 1995, then I bet it would have bombed harder than Cutthroat Island did. 🤣👎
